Championing Sustainability

From architecture blueprint to ongoing building operations, MBFC’s design, facilities and operations prioritise safety, security, occupant comfort, environmental impact and sustainability.

The buildings’ green features include an outdoor weather station that measures external temperatures to be used as set-point for indoor air conditioning; a system to collect condensate water for general purpose cleaning; and green building monitors that publish energy and water consumption.

Extensive landscaping and sky terraces add aesthetic intrigue while reducing urban heat load. Smart technologies such as insulated double glazed facade curtain glass walls help to reduce air conditioning load and chilled water supply and reduce our impact on the environment.

Fostering a community with a green mindset is our priority. We adopt green leases and green fit-out guides, and work closely with tenants to ensure that their premises are fitted-out and operated in accordance with the agreed standards. To reinforce our green efforts, we actively engage stakeholders through a structured recycling programme and leverage digital platforms to disseminate energy and water conservation tips.

Our green measures have led to several recognitions conferred by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Public Utilities Board (PUB)

Sustainability Programmes

A structured recycling programme is part of our sustained efforts to care for the environment. Conventional and electronic waste recycling bins are placed in public areas to allow segregation of paper, glass, plastic and general waste, as well as electronic wastes. We also work closely with office and retail tenants to raise awareness and encourage participation in recycling programmes.

Once every quarter, used fluorescent tubes are collected and sent for recycling, while electronic waste is amassed on an annual basis. Aside from the ongoing efforts, we continuously explore new initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle.
